Introduction

This website is a Wiki. A Wiki is a website where anyone can edit and add pages!

If you see a mistake on a page, you can fix it in a couple of mouse clicks! If you see a topic that is missing, you can add it!

Registration

Although you can edit pages without being a registered user, being a registered user has a few extra benefits. For example, you will get credit for pages you edit as your username will appear on them, you can upload images, you can post to the forums and you can send private messages.

You can easily create a username and password, it's fast and free. See More Information About Registration.

Editing Pages

Any page you see on this site you can change! Each page has an Edit button at the top of it. Clicking this allows you to edit the page.

A special place in the Wiki is set aside for you to play around and test editing pages, it's called the SandBox. You will find it useful to try things out in the SandBox as you learn to use Wiki.

All you really need to know is the following:

  • To get bold text enclose the words within double underscores, for example like this.

  • To get italic text enclose the words within double single quotes, for example like this.

  • To get underlined text enclose the words within three equals signs, for example like this.

  • To get bullet points, begin lines with an asterisk.

  • To create a main heading, heading 1, start a line with a single exclamation mark. To get a sub heading, heading 2, start with two exclamation marks. Use more exclamation marks to get deeper levels of sub heading. It's best to try this out in the SandBox to see how it works.

Click on the Edit Page button now and read through the text of this page again to see the examples more clearly.

Creating New Pages

To create a new page in the Wiki simply create a link to it. You create a link to a page by enclosing the page name in double brackets, for example:

A Guide to Pronunciation

If the page name which you create a link to doesn't exist, a question mark will appear after the page name, for example:

A Page Which Does Not Exist?

The question mark indicates the page does not exist. Clicking on the question mark will create the page and allow you to edit its content. Please don't create a page on the above link and ruin the example

Quick Page Creation / Editing

To quickly edit a page or to quickly create a new page, use the Quick edit a Wiki page box at the top left of this page.
